2018 Heritage Yachts Newport 78
A Heritage `Newport’ 78 Fly bridge Cruiser is the ultimate reward. The prestige of owning a legacy is without compare combines the latest technologies with artisanal attention.
The Newport 78 Fly bridge Cruiser is perfect for an owner/operator seeking a boat that is informal in its nature. She offers one of a kind layout and accommodations configurations, unique to the marketplace.
Up, a large aft deck joins the pilothouse with fly bridge above.
On the lower level, the saloon, galley, dining area runs amidship.
Options aft are for a large owner’s suite or twin cabins.
Forward, one version offers a VIP suite, while another has crew quarters and a guest cabin.
Unique to the market and the most interesting element of the yacht is the space below the saloon. This offers some interesting configuration opportunities such as bunk bed playroom for kids, or an office, a workshop, VIP stateroom, spa with Jacuzzi, sauna & steam room, etc.
To accomplish the requirements mentioned above, the design is based on a Hunt deep-v hull. This enables their yachts to be capable of offshore passages in comfort and safety with a good turn of speed. Standard power of 18 to 32 liter diesels will permit speeds in the 20-30 knot range. Options include PODS and water jets if desired to meet specific owner needs. Performance means more than just speed. It is control, handling, directional stability, dynamic stability. The hulls are carefully sized to carry the projected loads. They use the concept of bottom loading to size a hull. A concept similar to an airplane’s wing loading. The planing phenomenon is similar to flying. An angle of attack is needed and a surface to generate lift. They sculpt the bottom shape to have a fine entry for soft ride and low resistance with the right amount of waterline beam for good stability. Then, adjust the bottom aft to dial in the right running trim. Lastly, the details will be done in a manner that allows safe and comfortable operation; abundant and properly sized handrails, non-skid decking, sea rails on countertops, good sight lines, and similar functional features often neglected in favor of style.
